- While I was working as a tenured dance professor at Frostburg State University, a successful implementation of the first intensive summer dance workshop on the FSU campus took place. This vision, and its inception was collaboratively achieved by Janet Eilber, Artistic Director of the Martha Graham Dance Company and myself. The retreat focused on the implementation and integration of Martha Graham's artistic technical contributions in the classroom and dance studio. Company members and distinguished guest artists; Pearl Lang, Ethel Winter, and Mary Anthony created a professional environment for aspiring modern dancers .
- Originally titled, The Martha Graham Summer Dance Retreat was renamed (because of political reasons at the time) as The Frostburg Summer Dance Retreat (2000 & 2001)
- Included dance classes, workshops in choreography and repertory culminated in final performances illustrating a myriad of choreographies highlighted by guest artists and student works.
- The finale: Steps-in-the-Street was performed by the FSDR students.
